New federal regulations (effective April 16, 2015) will impact homeowners and their water heaters. The issues have to do with reducing energy consumption.
A more efficient water heater is important because it is good for the health of the environment and planet. But for a more tangible and personal reason, a higher efficiency water heater will likely save the home owner money over the lifetime of the unit.
What exactly are the new standards for water heaters, you ask? Well, we are not even going to try and explain them in a blog post. In short, they are very, very complicated. Bottom line, they require units to be more energy efficient.
