The Gold Canyon Arizona Citizens on Patrol program (C.O.P.) is scheduling a new Academy. The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for the Citizens on Patrol Academy. The new revamped COP Academy will include general classroom instruction, policies & procedures, training in CPR/First Aid, Air Bourne Pathogens, self-defense, traffic control (including helicopter medical evacuation traffic control), and evasive driving. All training will be provided by AZPOST Certified General Instructors.
More volunteers are needed. There is always interest in expanding the program to include more volunteers. Also there are several “snow-birds” who have been volunteering and who will be leaving for the summer months. The program can be a lot of fun, plus it is time well spent for a great community cause. The Gold Canyon Citizens on Patrol program is made up of volunteers who drive a police car throughout the Gold Canyon neighborhoods to be additional eyes and ears for the community in the quest to make Gold Canyon a safer place to reside. (Note Gold Canyon celebrated it’s second anniversary of the C.O.P. program in Sept 2008. )
