October 24, 2009 is the date to mark on your calender if you are anywhere near the Boyce Thompson Arboretum and you love butterflies. Scottsdale resident and tour guide Adriane Grimaldi will lead a butterfly walking tour teaching about the whimsical insects Oct. 24 at 9:30 a.m. Then there will be an afternoon slideshow and lecture from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. talking about appropriate plants, and experiences with hummingbird-butterfly gardening.

For those who want butterflies in their own yard, the Arboretum staff has put together an All-In-One Hummingbird-Butterfly Garden. This will include special collections of salvia, buddleia, penstemon and other plants appealing to hummingbirds and butterflies so you can take home a do-it-yourself starter garden to lure the colorful creatures.

For more information about this ever popular event check out the website for the Boyce Thompson Arboretum.
