in Gold Canyon AZ Things to Do

With the summer weather, many of our “snowbirds” have left for the north and cooler weather. Many of these winter residents are active volunteers in our community . With them gone for the summer, there are organizations in need of new volunteers to help take up the slack.

One of these very important organizations that is in urgent need of more volunteers is the Apache Junction Reachout Food Bank that is located at 575 N Idaho Road in Apache Junction.  Volunteer drivers and assistants are desperately needed. Drivers and assistants can select from two shifts of three consecutive days – either Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday or Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6:30am till about 10:30 am. The schedule is a rotating one meaning that the volunteers do not have to be involved every week.

There is also a need for volunteers to help stock shelves from 7am until 11am, with food that is brought in by trucks.

Call them at 480-288-6608 or 480-380-6516 for more details and to become involved.

With the economy is troubled times many people in the Gold Canyon and Apache Junction communities depend on the help of the food banks to feed their families. The food bank is a total volunteer effort. No one received any compensation.

………….

Also don’t forget the local Gold Canyon food bank that is housed in the Gold Canyon Methodist Church
Donations are always needed and welcome
