While it seems like we just entered into summer, it is already time to get ready for back-to-school as several Gold Canyon and Apache Junction organizations are seeking donations of school supplies.
The Boys and Girls Club in Apache Junction needs donations of all sorts of school supplies. Their donation drive is from July 27-30. But they will take donations at any time. A phone number for them is 480-982-6381.
Another non-profit organization needing help is Project HELP. Their donation drive is Aug 3 -10. Their focus is also all types of school supplies. For more information about their needs call 480-288-2955.
A collection point for these organizations, if you cannot get to them directly is the Multi-Generational Center in Apache Junction. The Active Adult Center desk will be happy to help you. Or you can call them at 480-288-2955 for more details and hours that someone is there.
Another community organization that is offering support for these groups, by helping to collect supplies and picking up and dropping things off is Soroptimists of Apache Junction. They can be reached at 480-890-1446.
So there are many ways to make a connection. These kids groups need help even more this year as the economy has made it difficult for many families to provide all the school supplies needed by their children.
