Superstition Area Land Trust commonly referred to as S.A.L.T. was formed in 1993 by the area citizens and settlements that bordered on the Superstition Wilderness area. The goal is to preserve the riparian area, native vegetation and wildlife of the vanishing Sonoran Desert. Land trusts are private tax exempt, non profit organizations. They focus on developing non adversarial approachs with landowners, rancher and government agencies. Funding comes from donations of individuals, annual grants, endowments, bequests, corportions, grants and foundations.
